Our story starts with a visionary, philanthropist by the name of Herbert Greenberg. A man whose heart was as big as his vision to help the Rocky Mount community. Many people don't know that the station began at the historic power plant in the downtown area in 1997.
Mr. Greenberg's vision was to provide an advertising outlet to promote the voices of local businesses, churches, community service organizations, and education systems and effectively communicate their messaging to the community. Herb's legacy of community service, excellence, ethics, and principles are the principles that WHIG-TV was founded upon.
Today we proudly operate at the front of the North Carolina Wesleyan University campus.
Over the years our location, viewing area, and community have grown dramatically. While much has changed, our mission and the principles we operate by remain the same. We do our best to honor the legacy that Herbert Greenberg gifted to the world.
